Lyrical Befuddlement 1
February 8, 2011
In this game, I have taken three songs and twisted their lyrics around so much that they are hardly recognizable. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to figure out what the three songs are. I have shortened any repeating lines (for instance, Hey Jude would go from “na na na na na na na na na na na hey Jude” to “na hey Jude”), as this might give the song away too easily. Because of this, the song’s music will probably not match up to my puzzle. I have also tried to vary my choice of genre so that everyone might have a fighting chance. For anyone still confused, I have included this example.
I have added links to the answers, but make your own guess first.
I found a witch
Who cast a spell of darkness upon me
She’s a witch
And wants to make me a fiend
She’d better not turn around and utilize her various techniques
She’d better not turn around or my magic wand might activate
I’m hexed
And petrified
I must stay with her
I can’t leave her side
She’s nocturnal, thin, and ravenous
But that’s nothing I didn’t know
Being patient, she may be with you but desires to exit
There is a fee to view; did you think there wasn’t?
She is feral, a feline who responds only to the call of her kind
Funds are significant
Romance will only get you so far
(chorus)
She is nigh
Beware, she’ll masticate you
She is nigh
She eats people
Take me to our satellite
And permit me to caper amidst the heavenly bodies
Reveal to me the nature of the vernal equinox on different planets
Or, grasp me
Or, canoodle me
Saturate my circulatory system with a ditty
And make that ditty perpetual
My hankering is yourself
As is my reverence and idolization
Or, be factual
Or, I am amorously infatuated with you
Still working on the first.
The second is “Maneater” by Hall & Oates, I believe.
The third is “Fly Me to the Moon” as performed by Frank Sinatra.
While I labor upon the first, here is one for you:
–
You are the quintessence of my thoughts
Yet assets are required
A great fortune is needed
For correct execution.
An era is demanded,
A great and costly span,
Forbearance and eons,
For correct execution.
